The Compost Program Manager course is approved by South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) and fulfills the requirements of SC R.61-107.4, which requires all permitted Type Two and Type Three compost facilities to have at least one employee who is a certified compost program manager.
This course combines field and classroom training. During the field exercises, attendees will learn sampling methods and procedures by operating the equipment needed to sample and analyze compost quality, stability and many other parameters. Classroom time will cover composting regulations, microbiology, processes, monitoring and control, feedstock characterization, compost recipe development, systems and technologies, equipment, site selection, facility design, odor management, storm water control and more.
