alabama training courses
As of April 15, 2010, all public solid waste management facilities are required to have a Certified Operator on-site during hours of operation. To meet the certification requirements, operators must take the Alabama Landfill Operator Certification Training Course, taught by ADEM, as well as obtain an additional 7 or 12 hours of training, depending on the type of landfill.
In addition, all Certified Operators are required to take the ADEM class once every three years. Also, depending on the type of landfill, Certified Operators are required to take up to 30 hours of continuing education classes during each three-year licensure period.
To obtain initial certification or recertification as a Landfill Operator, you will need to attend the three-hour ADEM class as well as:
- 7 hours of training to get your initial C&D Operator’s certification.
- 12 hours of training to get your initial MSW Operator’s certification.
- 27 hours of Continuing Education every three years after your initial certification to recertify.
Our ADEM approved courses are developed and taught by LaBella – Joyce Training staff. We cover technical, regulatory and operational requirements for landfills, with a special emphasis on the requirements that are unique under ADEM’s Solid Waste Regulations.
